Head Ballet Professional

Springdale Ballet and Dance Academy is excited to welcome our new lead ballet instructor Kim Araki.

Kim trained as a professional dancer at The Royal Ballet School (London, England), American Ballet Theatre School, and The School of American Ballet. She danced professionally as a Soloist and Principal in classical ballet and in Equity musical theatre. As a dancer with the New York City Opera, she performed in a wide-ranging repertoire which included 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st-century opera, operetta, and musical theatre incorporating many styles of dance. Within her 15+ years of experience teaching ballet and dance, she has enjoyed working with figure skaters of all levels and ages. She has previously initiated a dance for the skater’s program in the Ohio area and is bringing that model to Twin Rinks.

What to Wear

Girls must have their hair pulled back into a bun; they are required to wear pink convertible foot tights, as well as a black, solid colored leotard. Levels 1A and 1B may wear a light pink leotard if black is unattainable.

Boys are required to wear a white t-shirt and black leggings. Additionally, skaters must bring pink (girls) or white/black (boys) soft ballet shoes to both class days. Boys must also wear white or black socks – according to the color of their ballet shoes.
